In December 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels amounted to $1,648 per ton, with a decrease of -3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,993 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,679 per ton), while the average price for exports to India stood at $1,079 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
