In March 2022, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels amounted to $1,959 per ton, which is down by -8.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2021 when the average export price increased by 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,148 per ton in February 2022, and then dropped in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,934 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,895 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
