The average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira stood at $423 per ton in December 2023, with an increase of 13% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2023 to December 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The export price peaked at $463 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,466 per ton), while the average price for exports to Namibia ($347 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Norway recorded growth in shipments abroad of ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira, which increased by 25% to 117K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, exports of ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira skyrocketed to $52M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 67% against the previous year.
