In 2022, the average import price for felt; whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminateds amounted to $1,871 per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,616 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,723 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($684 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for felt; whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminateds stood at $2,560 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -12.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,012 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,593 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany amounted to $2,513 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of felt; whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminateds imported into Sri Lanka declined dramatically to 407 tons, with a decrease of -58% compared with the previous year. In general, imports recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 74%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 968 tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of felt; whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminateds reduced remarkably to $26K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a dramatic decrease. The smallest decline of -17.1% was in 2021.
