The average import price for ethers; acyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, diethyl ethers stood at $4,698 per ton in 2022, rising by 9.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 62% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,334 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,446 per ton), while the price for India ($4,483 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

For the third year in a row, Sri Lanka recorded decline in supplies from abroad of ethers; acyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, diethyl ethers, which decreased by -65.6% to 3.4 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -15.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, imports of ethers; acyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, diethyl ethers reduced remarkably to $16K in 2022. Overall, imports saw a sharp shrinkage. The smallest decline of -18.6% was in 2020.
