In November 2023, the average import price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) amounted to $2,086 per ton, surging by 4.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 an increase of 6.8% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,814 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Australia ($2,530 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,605 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) amounted to $3,031 per ton, rising by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) increased by +54.0% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,091 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($2,990 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+2.1%).

In 2022, supplies from abroad of ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) decreased by -23% to 2K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.6K tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) fell to $5.6M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 72%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6M, and then fell in the following year.

In general, exports showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,029%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 82 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, exports of ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) fell dramatically to $21K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 1,124%.
