The average import price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) stood at $2,536 per ton in December 2021, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated prominent growth from January 2021 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +7.1% over the last eleven months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, import price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) decreased by -1.0% against October 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 72% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $3,075 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,046 per ton) and China ($2,720 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($2,287 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($2,295 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) stood at $2,857 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $3,061 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($4,992 per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($1,868 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
