The average export price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) stood at $2,234 per ton in 2022, growing by 4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,998 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($1,597 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Pakistan (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) stood at $2,246 per ton in September 2023, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 19% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,292 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Germany ($2,405 per ton) and Belgium ($2,048 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,799 per ton) and Spain ($1,808 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Ether-Alcohols and Their Halogenated, Sulphonated, Nitrated or Nitrosated Derivatives in France
In 2022, exports of ether-alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives (excluding 2,2-oxydiethanol) from France shrank sharply to 68K tons, waning by -30.3% compared with 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 397%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 98K tons, and then declined notably in the following year.
