Price for Cumin Seeds, Neither Crushed Nor Ground in Turkey (FOB) - 2023

In November 2023, the average export price for cumin seeds, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $5,169 per ton, falling by -5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 an increase of 47% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,443 per ton, and then fell in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($7,840 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,766 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bangladesh (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for cumin seeds, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $2,238 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 12%. The import price peaked at $2,964 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($3,343 per ton), while the price for Iran ($551 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Afghanistan (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 45%.

In value terms, exports of cumin seeds, neither crushed nor ground shrank markedly to $18M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $22M, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
