In November 2023, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $4,383 per ton, rising by 5.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 34% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $5,263 per ton. From March 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($11,166 per ton), while the price for Chile ($3,255 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $5,101 per ton, surging by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 43%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $13,105 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($8,568 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($4,095 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds decreased by -45.2% to 5.2K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.7K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
