Price for Crustaceans, Molluscs and Other Aquatic Invertebrates, Prepared or Preserved in Turkey (FOB) - 2023

The average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $7,447 per ton in December 2023, falling by -14.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $10,293 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($18,702 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($4,314 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $4,736 per ton, growing by 8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $6,745 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($17,357 per ton), while the price for Chile ($3,160 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds exported from Turkey surged to 4.5K tons, increasing by 29% compared with the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +63.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
