In December 2023, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $10,235 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $11,706 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($23,938 per ton), while the price for Chile ($4,501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $9,897 per ton in December 2023, dropping by -8.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $10,809 per ton in November 2023, and then contracted in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($33,597 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($7,096 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
