In 2022, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $4,890 per ton, shrinking by -20.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average import price increased by 52% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $10,034 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($28,818 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($3,288 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, approx. 360 tons of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds were imported into Iraq; picking up by 25% against 2021. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29%.
