The average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $8,252 per ton in October 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $8,602 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($12,974 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,975 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In October 2023, the average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $9,995 per ton, with a decrease of -2.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $11,369 per ton. From May 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($14,249 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($7,499 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds, when their volume increased by 5.6% to 38K tons. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds rose to $302M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a deep contraction.
