Price for Crustaceans, Molluscs and Other Aquatic Invertebrates, Prepared or Preserved in China (FOB) - 2023

In December 2023, the average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $10,504 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 8% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $11,649 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($17,504 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($6,160 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2023, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $6,186 per ton, growing by 1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 22% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $8,245 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($18,766 per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($1,793 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 41%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
