Price for Crab and Crab Meat in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
The average crab and crab meat export price stood at $7,295 per ton in March 2022, increasing by 3.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 23% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $8,318 per ton. From October 2021 to March 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($24,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($4,022 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crab and crab meat import price stood at $6,055 per ton in March 2022, waning by -7.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2021 when the average import price increased by 69% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $14,918 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($9,349 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($4,208 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Crab and Crab Meat in Indonesia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of crabs and crab meat, when their volume decreased by -42% to 8.7K tons. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 15K tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, crab and crab meat exports dropped to $94M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $99M, and then contracted in the following year.
