Price for Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average export price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) amounted to $1,986 per ton, reducing by -8.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 when the average export price increased by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,162 per ton in November 2021, and then contracted in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($3,417 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($1,066 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2021, the average import price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) amounted to $1,298 per ton, declining by -2.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2021 when the average import price increased by 38% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,668 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to December 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,073 per ton), while the price for India ($414 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Malaysia
In 2022, approx. 44K tons of cereal grain products (including corn flakes) were exported from Malaysia; with an increase of 5.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, corn flakes and cereal products exports amounted to $95M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.

Imports of Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Malaysia
For the fourth consecutive year, Malaysia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of cereal grain products (including corn flakes), which increased by 2.3% to 48K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 7.9%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
