Price for Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
The average import price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) stood at $3,191 per ton in July 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,280 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($4,531 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($786 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for cereal grain products (including corn flakes) stood at $2,564 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -47.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 89% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,893 per ton, and then shrank remarkably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($8,495 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+26.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Croatia
For the fourth consecutive year, Croatia recorded growth in overseas purchases of cereal grain products (including corn flakes), which increased by 7.9% to 16K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 8%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, corn flakes and cereal products imports rose markedly to $38M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports of Corn Flakes and Cereal Products in Croatia
In 2022, overseas shipments of cereal grain products (including corn flakes) decreased by -10.1% to 8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -19.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 85% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 9.9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, corn flakes and cereal products exports rose notably to $14M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
