In January 2024, the average import price for copper; strip, of a thickness exceeding 0.15mm, of refined copper, in coilses amounted to $9,319 per ton, shrinking by -11.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $11,479 per ton in October 2023; however, from November 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($14,900 per ton), while the price for China ($8,983 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In January 2024, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($10,878 per ton) and the UK ($10,807 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($9,777 per ton) and Switzerland ($10,278 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
