In December 2023, the average import price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts amounted to $8,371 per ton, with an increase of 2.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $9,019 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Chile ($8,425 per ton) and Peru ($8,317 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($8,235 per ton) and Canada ($8,252 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Democratic Republic of the Congo (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $7,793 per ton in 2022, waning by -15.2% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts increased by +17.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 40%.
