The average import price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $9,085 per ton in December 2023, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $9,476 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,432 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria stood at $9,016 per ton.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+0.5%).

The average export price for copper; refined and copper alloys, unwroughts stood at $8,946 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -41.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a moderate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 183%. The export price peaked at $22,053 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($91,405 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($4,252 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
