In July 2023, the average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $9,388 per ton, declining by -4.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.9% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $10,080 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,968 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($7,390 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $9,999 per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, copper plates, sheets and strip import price increased by +41.0% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,000 per ton, leveling off in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($18,798 per ton), while the price for Germany ($9,201 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in shipments abroad of copper plates, sheets and strips, which increased by 9.2% to 32K tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip exports surged to $314M in 2022. In general, exports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 104%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
