Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $10,410 per ton, shrinking by -7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2021 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $12,208 per ton. From November 2021 to January 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In January 2022, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($12,971 per ton) and Belarus ($11,580 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($8,797 per ton) and Ukraine ($9,939 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $10,448 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -15.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $12,350 per ton, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($17,393 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($7,010 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Russia
Copper plates, sheets and strip exports from Russia fell to 2.5K tons in 2022, waning by -8.9% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 21%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.8K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip exports fell sharply to $22M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 74%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $28M, and then dropped notably in the following year.
