Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Poland (CIF) - 2023
The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $12,128 per ton in July 2023, surging by 7.5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 11% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $13,404 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($18,036 per ton), while the price for Italy ($10,197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $13,405 per ton in July 2023, falling by -7.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $14,741 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Italy ($13,938 per ton) and Hungary ($13,318 per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($12,010 per ton) and Lithuania ($12,170 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Poland
In 2022, the amount of copper plates, sheets and strips imported into Poland fell markedly to 12K tons, dropping by -22.7% compared with the previous year. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 15K tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip imports contracted to $125M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $142M, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Poland
In 2022, approx. 4.5K tons of copper plates, sheets and strips were exported from Poland; reducing by -22.3% against 2021. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 5.8K tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, copper plates, sheets and strip exports reduced modestly to $55M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $58M, and then declined modestly in the following year.
