Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Peru (FOB) - 2021

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $6,431 per ton in April 2020, with a decrease of -4.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a perceptible downturn. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,073 per ton. From February 2020 to April 2020, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In April 2020, the highest price was recorded for prices to Chile ($7,480 per ton) and the United States ($6,389 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($5,532 per ton) and Mexico ($6,285 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $5,799 per ton in April 2020, rising by 3.1% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2020 to April 2020, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2020 when the average import price increased by 8.7% m-o-m. The import price peaked in April 2020.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($8,517 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($4,878 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of copper plates, sheets and strips, when their volume decreased by -19.7% to 6K tons.
