Price for Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Egypt (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $11,319 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,603 per ton. From December 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($11,618 per ton) and Germany ($11,215 per ton), while the price for Italy ($9,544 per ton) and Turkey ($9,544 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips stood at $7,379 per ton in 2022, growing by 6.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,449 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($11,302 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($4,235 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sri Lanka (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Copper Plates, Sheets and Strip in Egypt
In 2022, imports of copper plates, sheets and strips into Egypt skyrocketed to 5.4K tons, growing by 37% against 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
