In September 2023, the average export price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $7,686 per ton, reducing by -1.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $8,654 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($9,848 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($6,363 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average import price for copper plates, sheets and strips amounted to $13,696 per ton, which is down by -18.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a mild downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $24,737 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($29,692 per ton), while the price for China ($10,923 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
