The average import price for cocoa; paste; whether or not defatteds stood at $1,135 per ton in October 2023, which is down by -79.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,590 per ton, and then reduced sharply in the following month.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ecuador.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +10.9% per month.

The average export price for cocoa; paste; whether or not defatteds stood at $2,595 per ton in 2022, surging by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 42%. The export price peaked at $4,778 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($10,025 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia stood at $2,320 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+27.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Overall, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 2,327% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 345 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.
