The average import price for cocoa; paste; whether or not defatteds stood at $3,494 per ton in 2022, dropping by -2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,614 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($4,333 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sudan ($300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, exports of cocoa; paste; whether or not defatteds contracted notably to $692 in 2022. In general, exports, however, faced a deep slump. The smallest decline of -10.4% was in 2021.
