In 2022, the average cobalt; waste and scrap import price amounted to $5,818 per ton, with an increase of 106% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $7,559 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($12,043 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,139 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+17.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average cobalt; waste and scrap export price amounted to $2,277 per ton, increasing by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 58%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $5,729 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($20,581 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($1,059 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, imports of cobalt; waste and scraps into South Korea shrank to 910 tons, with a decrease of -13% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports, however, saw a significant expansion.
