In December 2023, the average import price for coal; anthracite, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds amounted to $526 per ton, picking up by 16% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $667 per ton. From August 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($703 per ton), while the price for Peru ($385 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price saw a resilient expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the Netherlands.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +9.3% per year.
