In 2022, the average export price for coal; anthracite, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds amounted to $391 per ton, declining by -42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 99%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $824 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Oman.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Bahrain amounted to +25.7% per year.

The average import price for coal; anthracite, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds stood at $216 per ton in 2021, declining by -7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 11%. The import price peaked at $387 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($237 per ton), while the price for Russia ($172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In value terms, exports of coal; anthracite, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds reduced notably to $39K in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 32%.
