In August 2023, the average import price for coal; anthracite, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds amounted to $450 per ton, dropping by -30% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 55% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $935 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($536 per ton), while the price for Slovakia amounted to $346 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
