The average import price for chain and parts thereof, of iron or steel stood at $4,621 per ton in February 2022, increasing by 4.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,114 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to February 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($13,901 per ton), while the price for China ($3,361 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($25,418 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bolivia ($5,769 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Trinidad and Tobago (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
