The average cereals; maize (corn), seed export price stood at $1,132 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 3.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 103% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $1,860 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($5,717 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($193 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+46.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
