The average cereals; maize (corn), seed import price stood at $4,836 per ton in June 2023, declining by -62.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 108% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $12,780 per ton in May 2023, and then fell markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($40,172 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($3,560 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
