Price for Cereals; Maize (Corn), Seed in India (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average cereals; maize (corn), seed export price amounted to $2,049 per ton, with an increase of 25% against the previous month. Overall, the export price posted a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 162% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,733 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($2,823 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($1,714 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nepal (+17.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cereals; maize (corn), seed import price amounted to $11,069 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 766%. The import price peaked at $11,195 per ton in 2021, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($19,175 per ton), while the price for Myanmar amounted to $10,882 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nepal (+137.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cereals; maize (corn), seed exports skyrocketed to $65M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +77.6% against 2020 indices.
