The average cereals; maize (corn), seed import price stood at $4,261 per ton in July 2023, jumping by 37% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,996 per ton), while the price for France ($3,279 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+29.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average cereals; maize (corn), seed export price stood at $4,997 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 16% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a tangible increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, cereals; maize (corn), seed export price decreased by -18.5% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 35% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $6,132 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,811 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($4,088 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
