Price for Cereals; Maize (Corn), Other than Seed in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $200 per ton in August 2023, falling by -3% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 5% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $316 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Hungary ($231 per ton) and Montenegro ($206 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($190 per ton) and Italy ($200 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $882 per ton in August 2023, falling by -33.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a notable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 198% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,327 per ton in July 2023, and then shrank rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($1,403 per ton), while the price for Montenegro ($172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cereals; Maize (Corn), Other than Seed in Serbia
In 2022, overseas shipments of cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds decreased by -46.1% to 1.2M tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports saw a dramatic decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 15%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.6M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
