In December 2022, the average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds amounted to $346 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 2.8% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $400 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to December 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($351 per ton), while the price for Brazil totaled $320 per ton.

From June 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (-2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
