Price for Cereal Flours; Other than of Wheat or Meslin in Hungary (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average export price for cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin amounted to $658 per ton, shrinking by -2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 33% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $818 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1,904 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($591 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin amounted to $825 per ton, which is down by -13.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $949 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,229 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($359 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Cereal Flours; Other than of Wheat or Meslin in Hungary
In 2022, shipments abroad of cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin decreased by -6.5% to 7.6K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 160% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 12K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of cereal flours; other than of wheat or meslin skyrocketed to $3.5M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
