Price for Cereal Flour; of Maize (Corn) in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021

The average import price for cereal flour; of maize (corn) stood at $573 per ton in December 2021, surging by 3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 when the average import price increased by 79% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,118 per ton. From May 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($939 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($184 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cereal flour; of maize (corn) stood at $711 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,049 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($1,556 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($550 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+10.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
