Price for Broom, Brush, and Mop in Singapore (CIF) - 2022

The average broom, brush, and mop import price stood at $492 per thousand units in September 2022, with a decrease of -22.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 when the average import price increased by 47% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $0.7 per unit. From March 2022 to September 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($1.0 per unit), while the price for China ($304 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average broom, brush, and mop export price amounted to $0.9 per unit, growing by 5.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 50%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1.5 per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($6.4 per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($0.4 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+35.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of brooms, brushes, and mops imported into Singapore dropped to 106M units, waning by -6.6% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 132M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, broom, brush, and mop imports dropped to $72M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep downturn.
