Price for Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in Lithuania (CIF) - 2022

The average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $467 per ton in 2022, reducing by -14.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $880 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($1,256 per ton), while the price for Poland ($300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $664 per ton in 2022, picking up by 33% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 65%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $969 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,288 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in Lithuania

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of apples, pears and quinces; freshes, when their volume increased by 5.9% to 54K tons. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent.

In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh imports fell to $25M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The smallest decline of -7.9% was in 2020.

For the third year in a row, Lithuania recorded decline in overseas shipments of apples, pears and quinces; freshes, which decreased by -55.3% to 11K tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -10.6% was in 2021.

In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh exports shrank notably to $7.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -21.9% was in 2021.
