In December 2021, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $1,087 per ton, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $1,219 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to December 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($1,623 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($391 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes stood at $362 per ton in 2022, which is down by -10.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $902 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($464 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($108 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (-13.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in Kuwait
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of apples, pears and quinces; freshes increased by 13% to 38K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction.
In value terms, apples, pears and quinces; fresh imports amounted to $40M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback.
