In May 2023, the average export price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $669 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 3.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in May 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belarus ($1,053 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan ($379 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In May 2023, the average import price for apples, pears and quinces; freshes amounted to $908 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 5.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,100 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to May 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the countries with the highest prices were South Africa ($913 per ton) and Belgium ($901 per ton), while the price for Chile ($900 per ton) and the Netherlands ($900 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Apples, Pears and Quinces; Fresh in Azerbaijan
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of apples, pears and quinces; freshes increased by 20% to 89K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced setback.
