Price for Anise, Badian, Fennel and Coriander in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021

In December 2021, the average import price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander amounted to $2,357 per ton, surging by 17% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 44% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,695 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($5,523 per ton), while the price for Syrian Arab Republic ($1,049 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander amounted to $5,917 per ton, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, anise, badian, fennel and coriander export price increased by +46.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 56%. The export price peaked at $6,459 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($11,180 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iran ($263 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of anise, badian, fennel and coriander increased by 3.2% to 2K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable contraction.

In value terms, anise, badian, fennel and coriander imports totaled $4M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a noticeable decline.
