In August 2023, the average import price for anise, badian, fennel and coriander amounted to $2,537 per ton, surging by 25% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,059 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,675 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($911 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $16,519 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
