In 2022, the average andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite import price amounted to $642 per ton, picking up by 5% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite import price decreased by -28.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 58%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $902 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($872 per ton), while the price for India stood at $500 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+9.3%).

In 2022, supplies from abroad of andalusite, kyanite and sillimanites decreased by -21.4% to 16 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 75% against the previous year.
In value terms, andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite imports declined rapidly to $10K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 53%.
