Price for Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average aluminium waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,673 per ton, dropping by -2.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 8.7% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,065 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($2,067 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($1,010 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average aluminium waste and scrap export price stood at $1,892 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 5.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $2,249 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($3,047 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,433 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+29.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Aluminium Waste and Scrap in Turkey

In 2022, supplies from abroad of aluminium waste and scraps decreased by -28.4% to 281K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 118% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 392K tons, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium waste and scrap imports contracted sharply to $602M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 221%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $716M, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
